For a long time inspiration was found in the many travels I made and the different ways of housing that people show in different countries. Though reality first wads the starting point, most of recent work is the result of my own fantasy. Habitats can also becommissioned. For a long time inspiration was found in the many travels I made and the different ways of housing that people show in different countries. Though reality first wads the starting point, most of recent work is the result of my own fantasy. Habitats can also becommissioned. More information about that can be found on the page 'How to purchase.'
In my Habitats I will never depict residents, but traces of habitation. In the theme ‘One of a kind’ they become the subject and their surroundings the background, in fact another Habitat. I look for types that are not average, hence the name ‘One of a kind.’ It is emphatically not about existing individuals or portraits, which is why parts of the face or the entire face have been omitted here and there. Consciously or unconsciously, the viewer often fills these in in his or her mind.
